Running Colchester was set up as a Facebook group in May 2016, by runners, for runners in the local area. A place to talk all things running and to find new people to run with, it was created to meet the needs of the local community. Forward onto 2018 and we became affiliated to England Athletics are a fully fledged running club with qualified coaches and run leaders.
However our ethos is still to be a community, supporting ‘first time out the door’ runners to the local ‘Elite’ community. Everyone has something to offer and we welcome you no matter your ability.
All our weekly runs are free of charge, using fully qualified run Leaders, we have runs every day of the week, and for every ability. Different areas in Colchester are used, so people can meet up wherever they are based.
We also support all the other local running clubs, and ensure that those runners who want to find an excellent coach, or more structured club are given the information to join them. The #purplearmy is totally inclusive, you do not even have to wear a purple shirt, you are a member as soon as you join the Facebook group. For some that is enough, for others they want to meet new running buddies and find races, and talk nutrition and trainers and phyisos, all this is on our pages and more.
